ብሄርተኝነትን ታጥቀው አገራችንን ወደ አደገኛ ጠርዝ ከሚገፏት ምሁራን መካከል፣ የተወሰኑት ላይ የአቅሜን ያህል ሂስ ለመሰንዘር

የፕሮፌሰር ጌታቸው ነገር!
ወርቁ ፈረደ

ሞክሬያለሁ፡፡ አሁን ደግሞ የፕሮፌሰር ጌታቸውን አንዳንድ የተዛቡ ሀሳቦች ለመዳሰስ እሞክራለሁ፡፡

ፕሮፌሰር ጌታቸው አንቱ የሚባሉ ምሁርና አንተ የሚባሉ ፖለቲከኛ ናቸው፡፡ ጥናቶቻቸውን አንብቦ በእውቀታቸው ስፋት እና በጽሁፍ
ችሎታቸው የማይደነቅ ሰው ማግኘት ይከብዳል፡፡ ያም ሆኖ ጌቾ በመጣጥፎቻቸው፣ በግለ ታሪካቸው፣ እንዲሁም የአባ ባህርይ
ድርሰቶችን በሰበሰቡበትና ባሰናዱበት ጥራዛቸው የሚያንጸባርቋቸው አንዳንድ የተዛቡና አደገኛ ሐሳቦች አብረው የሚያኗኑሩ አይደሉም:፡

ለምሳሌ በቅርቡ፣ በአንዳንድ የኦሮሞ ብሄርተኞች በኩል ለሚሰነዘሩ ዘለፋዎች ምላሽ እንዲሆን የጻፉትን “ዕርቅና ሰላም፣ የሕይወት
ቅመም” የተባለ መጣጥፋቸውን ያነበበ ሰው፤ አንጋፋ ምሁራኖቻችን ከዕርቅና ከሰላም ጋራ እንዴት አድርገው እንዳቆራረጡን መረዳት
አያቅተውም፡፡

ጌቾ፣ ለአገሪቱ ቅርስ ውድመት የእስልምና እምነትና የኦሮምኛ ተናጋሪ ጎሳዎችን ተጠያቂ አድርገዋል፡፡ እርግጥ ነው፣ የግራኝ አህመድ ጦር
ወደ መሀል አገር በዘመተ ጊዜ እንዲሁም የኦሮሞ ገዳ ጦር አንዳንድ የአገሪቱን ክፍሎች በጦር ባስገበረ ጊዜ አያሌ ሰብአዊ፣ ቁሳዊና
መንፈሳዊ ሀብቶች ላይ ውድመት መድረሱ የተረጋገጠ ነው፡፡

ይሁን እንጂ አውዳሚነትን ከአንድ ብሄረሰብ እና ከአንድ ሀይማኖት ጋር አያይዞ ማቅረብ አድልኦ እንጂ እውቀት ሊሆን አይችልም፡፡
ዋናው የውድመት ምንጭ ሁሉም ብሄረሰቦችና ሁሉም ሀይማኖቶች የሚጋሩት የጦርነት ባህላችን ነው፡፡ በጦርነት ወቅት ክርስትያን
ነገስታትም ቤተ-ክርስትያን አቃጥለዋል፡፡ ቅርስ በዝብዘዋል፡፡ ለምሳሌ፣ አለቃ ወልደማርያም በጻፉት ዜናመዋእል ውስጥ በጎንደር
ስለተካሄደ አንድ ጦርነት ሲዘግቡ “(ቴዎድሮስ) በጎንደር ቤተክርስትያን በከተማው ውስጥ ያለውን አቃጠሉ፡፡ ከከተማው የራቀው ግን
በእግዜር ትእዛዝ ተረፈ” ይላሉ፡፡

ቴዎድሮስ እና አብዛኞቹ ወታደሮቻቸው የኦርቶዶክስ እምነት ተከታዮች ነበሩ፡፡ ነገር ግን ኦርቶዶክስነታቸው፣ ከሙስሊሙ ወይም
ከአገር-በቀል እምነት ተከታዩ የተሻለ ለቅርስ እንዲራሩ አላደረጋቸውም፡፡ ስለዚህ አንዱን እምነት በቅርስ ፈጣሪነት፣ ሌላውን በቅርስ
አውዳሚነት መፈረጅ ኢ-ታሪካዊ ይመስለኛል፡፡

ፕሮፌሰሩ በብሄረሰቦች ጥናት ላይ ያላቸውን እውቀት ለማዋጣት ደክመዋል፡፡ ይሁን እንጂ እውቀታቸው በፍርዳቸው ሲበላሽ እናያለን፡፡
የትግራይ ብሄር ተወላጆችን ሳያስቆጡ ስለ ትግራይ፣ የኦሮሞ ተወላጆችን ሳያስቆጡ ስለ ኦሮሞ መናገር ያቅታቸዋል፡፡ ለምሳሌ በአባ
ባህርይ መጽሐፋቸው፣ ኦሮሞ የሚለውን መጠርያ በነውረኝነት ከሚጠቀሰው መጠርያ በኋላ የመጣ አስመስለው ለማሳመን ሞክረዋል፡፡
ያ ቃል ከጥንት የኖረ ለመሆኑ ጥንታውያን ጸሐፊዎቹን እነ አባ ባህርይን፣ አለቃ አጥሜንና አለቃ ታዬን በዋቢነት ይጠቅሳሉ፡፡

ምክንያታቸው ምንም ይሁን የተጠቀሱት ኢትዮጵያውያን ሊቃውንት በኦሮሞ ጥናት ላይ ከፍተኛ አስተዋጽኦ ማድረጋቸውን
መጽሀፋቸውን ያነበበ ሁሉ የሚረዳው ነው፡፡ ይሁን እንጂ ከአድልኦ የነጹ አልነበሩም፡፡ የሚበይኑት ብያኔ፣ የሚጠቀሙት ስያሜ ሁሉ
በባእድ አስተያየት የተቃኘ ነው፡፡ በሌላ በኩል፣ በዘመነ መሳፍንት ማክተሚያ ላይ በኦሮሞ መካከል ኖሮ፣ የመስክ ጥናት ያካሄደው
አንቶኒዮ ደ አባዲ ኦሮሞዎች ራሳቸውን ኦሮሞ ብለው እንደሚጠሩ ጽፏል፡፡ “የኢትዮጵያ ጂኦግራፊ” በተባለው ስራው ውስጥ ቃሉን ቸል
ብሎ ኦሮሞ የሚለውን ቃል ይጠቀማል፡፡ እንዲሁም የአለቃ አጥሜና የአለቃ ታዬ ዘመነኛ የሆነው ቦረሊ በመጽሐፉ ኦሮሞ የሚለውን
ቃል ሲገለገልበት እናያለን፡፡ ይህ የሚያሳየው ቃሉ ዘመን አመጣሽ ሳይሆን የብሄረሰቡ ቤተሰባዊ መጠርያ ሆኖ ከጥንት የነበረ መሆኑን
ነው፡፡

ጌቾ፣ ስለ ጥንታዊው የኦሮሞ ወታደር የጦር ዘይቤ ሲጽፉ ያቀረቡት ፍርድ ከርሳቸው የሚጠበቅ ሆኖ አላገኘሁትም፡፡ እንዲህ ይላሉ፤
“ድንገት ካልተደረሰባቸው በቀር ምንም ቢሆን ከጠላት ጦር ጋራ ፊት ለፊት ውጊያ አይገጥሙም፡፡ የጦር ሀይል መምጣቱን ሲሰሙ
በተገኘው አቅጣጫ ሁሉ ይሸሻሉ፡፡ ሲሸሹ ገደል አይመልሳቸውም”

ይህን ፍርድ፣ በጌቾ አእምሮ ውስጥ እንጂ በእውነተኛው ታሪክ ውስጥ አናገኘውም፡፡ የአባ ባህርይ ዘመነኛ የሆኑት የኦሮሞ ተዋጊዎች
ስመ-ጥር ጀግኖችና ድል ነሺዎች እንደነበሩ ከጠላት ወገን የሆኑ መንገደኞች ሳይቀር መስክረውላቸዋል፡፡ ለምሳሌ፣ ፓንክረስት
በገላውድዮስና በኦሮሞ አስገባሪዎች መካከል የተደረጉ ጦርነቶችን በማስመልከት ቤርድሙዝን ጠቅሶ ሲጽፍ ይህን ይላል
“ስለ ኦሮሞዎች ችሎታና በንጉስ ገላውዲዎስ ላይ የተቀዳጁትን ድል አስመልክቶ ቤርድሙዝ ምስክርነቱን ሰጥቷል፡፡ ከአንድ ውጊያ በኋላ
ንጉሱ የረባ ነገር ሳይፈጽም፣ ተረትቶና ደካክሞ ወደ ሰፈሩ ተመለሰ፡፡ ከጥቂት አለፍ ብሎ ቤርድሙዝ፣ ንጉሱ በኦሮሞዎች ተሸንፎ
በውርደት ለመሸሽ መገደዱን መዝግቧል›› (The Ethiopian borderlands. ገፅ 284)

Ethiopian Heritage Society Wraps Up 4th Fest

The Ethiopian Heritage Society in North America (EHSNA), held its fourth annual event successfully.The Civic Building in Silver Spring Maryland was full to three-fourth of its capacity when the 4th Annual Heritage Festival was opened on Friday, July 25th, 2014. All sections of members of the Ethiopian community, young and old, women and men, kids and teenagers were in attendance.
Once dignitaries and invited guests took their seats, the MC opened the show with a recital of Bedilu Wakjira’s poem entitled, “What does a Country Mean” followed by the welcoming speech of the president of the Society, Mr. Abebe Hailu. The Friday event was covered with some light music, art, poetry and brief speeches from honorees as well as special guests. Captain Guta Dinka, one of the special guests, profoundly narrated the circumstances surrounding the assassination conspiracy on the life of Nelson Mandela, and how he was able to foil the assassination. Captain Guta concluded his speech by giving a short advice, “we will all ultimately die, but our deed stays behind as our legacy, and therefore, we should never jeopardize our history and the honor of our country.”
Following the Captain, young artist, Ezra Woube, showed a video depicting his art. His art consisted of Ethiopian folktales which were presented in forms of art that was recorded in real-time and resembled animation when being played for the audience. The audience loved it, laughing, and clapping whenever a nostalgic image of back home would come on the screen.
It was then the turn of, Human Rights activists, Obang Metho to deliver his keynote speech, and as usual, Obang made a moving and inspirational speech about the type of Ethiopia we should bestow upon our heirs. Democratic state delegate Tom Hucker gave a brief speech and thanked the Ethiopian community, and made future promises to engage the Ethiopian the community with facility funding and building.
On the second day, 26th, a fruitful and lively panel discussion was held at the Residence Inn at Marriot Hotel in Rosylin, Virginia where Fitawurari Mekonne Dori, Mr. Fekade Shewakena, and Mr. Obang Metho spoke and the renowned lawyer Mr. Shakespeare Feyissa facilitated the discussion.
In the afternoon session, the event was held at the scenic Georgetown University Multi-Sport Complex, in Washington D.C where adult and kids sport activities took place with some Ethiopian and reggae music. From local Ethiopian singers, Seyoum Moges was featured with the newly organized band comprising keyboardist Daniel Weldegebriel and saxophonist Felke Yenesew.
On closing day, the 27th, the outdoor activities continued as they did on Saturday, with more entertainment featured. The cultural group, Kignit, performed Ethiopian traditional dances, and following them young Ethiopian Americans, displayed stunning cultural show which included a short drama and dance which incorporated the various Ethiopian cultural. Towards the end of the night, featured entertainers such as Tigist Fantahun, Tsegaye Eshetu, and Shambel Belayneh, and they were accompanied by adorable Ethiopian kids proudly dancing next to the stage.
The annual EHSNA honorees were given their awards; Nahom Marie for his extraordinary academic achievement, Zone 9 Bloggers as an unsung heroes fighting for freedom of expression, and Laureate Tsegaye Gebremedhin for his contribution to the advancement of humanity and Ethiopian culture and history.
For the rest of the year, the EHSNA intends continue with the annual strategy and goals outlined at the beginning of the year. To recall the goals once more, they include establishing an Ethiopian community center, creating funding schemes, building stronger ties with Ethiopian based organizations, and building lasting sponsorships.
These three strategy outline are designed to work towards a longer goal the EHSNA has continuously reiterated. This is goal is building a permanent institution and service center at the heart of the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area. This intuition would be catered to the Ethiopian community giving a variety of services of which the community is in demand of.
